Later that evening, my mother was admitted to the ICU. While there, she experienced a severe seizure. Her entire body began seizing. My brother and I were alarmed. The nurse was alarmed. My mother was afraid. Moments earlier, I had prayed that anything in that room that was not of God would leave. Suddenly, her body began seizing violently. The nurses did not know what to do. They stood there watching. My mother repeatedly said, "I don't know if I'm going to make it." I called on Jesus

Then two years ago, I felt led to stop eating turkey and chicken and move toward a pescatarian diet. Shrimp. Fish. Crab. I was still eating good. But at the end of last year, I felt a strong nudge from the Lord to go vegetarian. Ugh. Friends, I tossed and turned at night. I journaled furiously. I negotiated with God like I was trying to close a million dollar business deal. “Lord… surely You didn’t mean to give up ALL meat?”

I am in a season where I truly value friendship. Not surface level connection. Not fake agreement. Not the kind of friendship where you just nod, smile, and say, “That’s right girl,” even when you know they are completely in the wrong. I’m talking about real friendship. The kind where you can be honest. The kind where truth is spoken, even when it’s hard and uncomfortable.
