It Really Is That Easy

Updated: Sep 5, 2022

This week a song that is sung every Sunday at my church has been on my heart. I've been humming it throughout the week, and it goes a little something like this......." if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart you shall be saved. He will turn your life around. He wants to give you the best if you just say yes. Come to Jesus."

I am not sure who is the writer of this song, but it's played every Sunday after the message has been preached, and it serves as the call to salvation. An opportunity for those who have not yet confessed Jesus as their Lord and Savior. This past Sunday, a young man came forward to give his life to Jesus. And as that song played and he stood in front of the altar, he was so sincere. He kept mouthing "Yes. Yes" as the choir sang and tears fell down his cheeks.

His sincerity moved me and reminded me that it really is that simple. Romans 10:9 is my scripture for the week:

"If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved."

We live in a world where society puts up all types of hoops and hurdles to join organizations or become members of elite clubs or groups. Either you have to pay a membership or jump through this hoop or hurdle to belong, but to join the body of Christ, Jesus Christ paid the price. Scripture tells us to join the body of Christ and receive eternal life with Jesus Christ in heaven, Romans 10:9 outlines the requirements:

1. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord.

2. Believe in your heart that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and God raised Him from the dead.

Romans 10:10 goes on to say, "For it is with your heart that you believe and justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."

God requires that we believe deep in our heart that Jesus died for our sins and with this belief and confession we become saved (saved = receiving eternal life in heaven and not going to hell when we die).

It really is that simple. Some may want to make it seem that in order to be saved you have to do this or do that, but the scripture explains it succinctly.

Romans 10:11 goes on to say that "Anyone who believes in Him (Jesus Christ) will never be put to shame. And verse 13 (one of my favorites) sums it up perfectly: "Everyone who calls on the Lord will be saved."

So my question to you today is, have you confessed with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and do you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and God raised Him from the dead?

If not, and you are ready to give your life to Jesus Christ, please join me in confessing the following prayer taken from here.

Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.

I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin.

You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.

Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved.

Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life. AMEN

If you have confessed this prayer for the first time then you are now saved. There are no hoops, hurdles, or requirements for membership in the body of Christ. Your confession and belief in Jesus Christ are what brings you in. Now it is important that you become part of a Bible-based church so you can grow and mature in your salvation and learn what it means to become a disciple in Jesus Christ.

I'm so grateful that God makes it easy to have eternal life with Him. It really is that simple, just like my church choir sings every Sunday morning......"If you confess with your mouth, believe with your heart. You shall be saved. He will turn your life around. He wants to give you the best. If you just say yes. Come to Jesus.........."
