Daring to Pray

"Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think." Ephesians 3:20

I love this Scripture. What a great reminder that God is able to do above and beyond what we ask, according to His mighty power that works within us. I don't know about you, but there are a lot of prayer requests inside me.

There are things that I want God to do for me, my family, my city, and my church. Sometimes the requests seem so large and the desires are so deep, that I don't have the words or the language to fully articulate them. Ephesians 3:20 lets me know that God can go beyond these deep, heartfelt desires. In other words, He can answer them above all I have wanted or even desired.

Let's look at the Amplified version of Ephesians 3:20:

Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us. Ephesians 3:20 AMP

The Amplified version tells us that God can do superabundantly more than all we dare to ask or think.

I really feel like God is daring us to ask Him for the big things. The big prayer requests, and dreams that are buried deep in our hearts. You know the desires that just seem too big, too impossible, and too preposterous to ask.

Ephesians 3:20 AMP says that God can go "infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes and dreams.

This means those secret, biggest, greatest prayers that are buried deep in our hearts that we tell no one about --- God can go beyond them. He can superabundantly bless us MORE than all we dare ask or think.

Will you dare to ask God today?

Will you dare to boldly pray to God today?

I just finished reading the Circle Maker by Mark Batterson and after reading, I feel led to create a DARE list of prayers. A Dare to Pray list of dreams and desires for myself, family, church, and city.

One thing that author Mark Batterson did mention is that God may not answer all our prayers how we may like, but He sure can't answer a prayer that is never prayed.

What do you have to lose by creating your own Dare Prayer List?

From the Message translation:

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Ephesians 3:20 MSG

God answers our prayers and exceeds our expectations through His power that is at work within us. That means that God partners with us. As the Message translation explains, God isn't going to push you around or force you to do something. Instead, He is going to answer your requests by empowering you through His Spirit working within you.

As believers, we have the power of God's Spirit living inside of you.

Thet book you want to write, the business you want to start, that mission trip you want to join --- God can do exceedingly and more than you can ever imagine, through His power working within you.

We aren't lazy dreamers. We don't pray crazy-faith, dare-filled prayers and then leave everything up to God. Instead, we pray in faith and obediently listen to God for the next steps to bring our prayer requests into existence. We do our part and God does His part.

In conclusion, know that God can superabundantly go beyond your deepest desire and dreams.

Dare to ask God for the desires and petitions of your heart. Write out a dare prayer list. With this list, you aren't daring God to act; you are daring yourself to ask God for the dreams and desires that He has placed in your heart.

Set aside time to pray out your Dare to Pray list. Sit with God and allow Him to respond and give direction. Also, take some time to listen to faith teaching that will build your faith. Faith in God is the fuel to ask daring, bold, incredulous prayers.

I believe God wants to stretch your faith in this season. Covid-19, racial unrest and disappointments has caused many of our mouths to clamp shut, however, I believe God is wanting us to open wide and make our requests known. Feel free to pray boldly for yourself. Articulate the things you want God to do in you, for you and for others. You can pray for others as you always do, but I also believe, that God wants you to talk to Him about you too. Your desires, and dreams that can only come to pass through Him working exceedingly and superabundantly.

Have fun creating your dare list. I can't wait to see how God responds!

Prayer

Dad, thank you that we can come to you about anything. Expand our thinking. Enlarge our mindsets so that we can dare to pray bold, fervent prayers. Lord, give us your desires so we are on one accord with you. Thank you that you love us so much and that you are able to do superabundantly more than we dare to ask or think. What a glorious promise! In Jesus' name, Amen.
